Ground Work Continued....

The last few weeks have been filled with many ups and downs as work is slowly moving forward here at GBBC. We have several large projects going on with most of them taking place out doors. At the beginning of these projects things got off to a good start then the rain started.....everyday. It is a little early for rainy season to start here, but just like everywhere, the weather is unpredictable.
The excavator was able to make the road far better then we could have ever imagined. He was able to push trees over that would take us weeks to cut down and move ground in a way that would have taken us years.
In reflection this whole scenario has a striking resemblance to our lives. We are going about our lives as normal with our plans and what we desire to get done.....Then something comes up. The rain comes, the dreaded trial takes place and it throws our lives into a tail spin. We try everything humanly possible to get out of it, but every attempt is met with greater resistance. We even invite others to help...the backhoe....someone that should be able to help get us out of this mess. However even then the mud or issue in our lives does not succeed, but continues to fight. This is the time where we must open our eyes to see the gravity of the situation and come to the understanding that we need something much greater to help. In this case it was a large excavator, but in our lives it is Jesus Christ. He is the Only ONE that can rescue us from the dangerous situation we are in. So whatever challenges you are currently facing, remember Jesus Christ is the only true solution to the problem. The cool thing is once he arrives and gets us through the challenge, he can take the horrific situation and turn it into something amazing. Just like this road that was horrible to start, we attempted to make it better, but it got even worse and in the end turned out better than we could have ever hoped for.

I had the road grader go down one of our mountain roads leading down to the river and some married students houses. The road was in very rough shape and the grader was able to get down to the bottom, but then the rain started......and the mud was the new normal.
We tried each day for nearly two weeks to get the grader moved with no avail. We even had a backhoe work for a full day and just about buried that as well. With each day that passed the stress level was increasing as this is "rented" very expensive machine and with all the rain we risked the grader being washed down the mountain.
After every attempt we could physically make I decided to call in my last option.....a big excavator.
After several hours of digging through and moving the wet mud the excavator made it to the grader.
The process of digging and pulling the 45,000 pound machine up the mountain was under way. It was very slow progress and with several set backs and the machine wanted to keep sliding down with the greasy ground as we inched the machine forward foot by foot.
To God be the Glory we were able to get the road grader back up to the top!!! Then the excavator went and started straightening the road we had completely demolished in the process.
