Our first days with Gunner....

Well, our first days with Gunner have been an adventure.....and a deLIGHTful one at that!  We showed you in our last post some pics from Day One--Gunner's first moments--now it is time to catch you up on his first few days!  They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so we will try to keep our captions brief and hope you enjoy our new blessing!
Day Two
Gunner hanging out with Mom and Dad on his first morning in the world!
A proud mama showing off her brand new baby boy!
An equally proud papa smiling at the joy of holding his little guy!
 Day Three
Gunner testing out his smile muscles....he is doing great!
Gunner hanging out in Daddy's arms and learning how to look at the camera......he's still a little nervous at this point, so he's only peeking out!
 Gunner enjoying Dad snuggles!
Gunner's first attempt at smiling for "Say CHEESE!"  (He's going to be a natural.....FOR SURE!!!)
Gunner and mama hanging out and waiting to get discharged from the hospital!
The Hovey family's first 'official' family photo......still waiting to be discharged to go home!
Gunner is really starting to get the hang of this looking at the camera thing....
 Day Four
Since we had all made it home the day before, it was already time to head back in to the doctor for a quick check up.  Here is Gunner ready and waiting in his car seat with diaper bag and all beside him.....and a Harley hat to add to his outfit!
Day Five
Daddy and Gunner are quite the pair!  Daddy has been a HUGE help with diaper changes and feedings already....way to go Dad Hovey!!!!
Gunner is visiting the neighbors, and I must say, he is already a BIG hit....or maybe I should say he's a 'little' BIG hit!!!!
Baby Gunner with eyes wide open and looking straight into the camera....it didn't take this dude long to catch on at all!!!  He's a BRIGHT one for sure.....(and not just when it comes to catching on to things)!!!!!
Gunner has been a 'little' LIGHT in our lives to say the least, but I am reminded of the distance even a 'little' LIGHT can shine in the midst of darkness....it can LIGHT up a whole room!!!!
That reminds me of Matthew 5:14-17, which is where Jesus says,
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
We give God the ALL the glory for the new LIGHT in our lives, and our prayer is that someday each of our readers will be able to know a new piece of heaven in knowing our son!!!  However, OUR son pales in comparison to knowing the LIGHT OF THE WORLD, Jesus Christ, THE Son of the Most High God.
In John 8:12, Jesus declares boldly,
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
We give God glory for OUR son and for the joy and privilege of serving THE Son here in Chile!!!!  Until next time,

The Hovey Family
