Merry Christmas!!

Image
It is often said, "The best gifts are the ones we have to wait for."  It is never said to be fun while waiting nor without challenges.  As we approach this Christmas season it will be filled with gifts both given and received, however why we celebrate Christmas is greatest gift ever given to this world, Jesus Christ.  Have you ever stopped to think about how big a gift this is? The One and only Son of God entered into a broken, twisted, pain filled world.  He entered this hard life for one purpose and that is to bring Salvation to me, you, and anyone who is willing to put their trust in Him Alone!  As we celebrate Christ's birth this Christmas season remember to not get caught up in the craziness of the season, but take time to reflect on why we celebrate! Update Letter & Current Status

Read our Current update Letter  HERE! We are still moving forward even when it is not at the speed we would like!  The reality is even though we have the illusion of driving we are only passengers in the shopping cart as our kids are here.  God is the operator of our lives and controls when and where we are going.  We are thankful for that, as life in ministry is much like a parking lot....busy, hard to navigate and has a high probability for accidents. "A staggering one of every five motor vehicle accidents take place in a parking lot, and 14% of all claims of auto damage involve collisions therein. One of the major reasons behind collisions, injuries and fatalities that happen in parking lots is the false sense of security motorists and pedestrians feel. Pedestrians and drivers expect traffic to move more slowly, which means that caution takes a backseat." As we prayerfully navigate the challenges of living in limbo.....we wait for our work permit/visa paperwork to

It has been a very busy and exciting last month!!  To God be the Glory we have reached 100% of our Outfit & Passage requirements!!   I (Brian) was also able to lead a team to work on completing our new mission house in Papua New Guinea.  We are ready to go but are in great need of your prayers as we continue to walk forward....you can read about it in our current update letter.   Read Here! Work team goals as outlined by one of the team members....and I could not possibly say it any better. Goal 1:  Make God look Good.   This is to be carried into every activity from the attitudes we have to the way we work with people.  It also carries into the project we are doing as we are to be working for the Lord and not for man's approval. Goal 2: Be Changed. When God orchestrates a group of individuals the  way he did and brings them to a place like PNG....there is more at play than what is seen.  The reality is when taking part in a kind of mission trip it is a big opportunity f

Hovey Commissioning Service

We have had the privilege of taking part in the Commissioning Service of our Family from our sending church, First Baptist Church of Waterville, MN.  You can also read some Really Exciting news in our new update letter:   Click to Read Update Letter You may ask what is a Commissioning Service?..... Commissioning in its very base definition is " the act of committing or entrusting a person, group, etc., with supervisory power or authority ". So how does this relate to the local church and the Hovey family? It relates in many ways starting with the Great Commission that is outlined in Matthew 28:19-20  " Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. ” However, the Great Commission does not just apply to missionaries or those who travel to other countries.  While the
