The Music of our Lives

Rhythms, instruments, voices, rests...they are all play a critical part in making music.  Many have asked what we are doing with our time now that we are stateside.  Let me assure you, it is not a slower pace but definitely different!  We have been doctoring for Moriah’s tummy issues.  We have been trying to meet with family, supporters and friends to share the work of God in our lives over the past two and a half years.  Not only that, but we are keeping up on the basics of dishes, laundry and household happenings while trying to establish some sort of routine as is necessary in the lives of littles!
Some of the highlights for our kiddos have been 'playing' with water.  Sprinklers and full bath tubs have been new experiences for Gunner and Moriah.  While that sounds so simple, it has been the root of much conversation in our family.  "Mom?  Why haven’t we played with water like this before?" Gunner asked the other day.  It is a simple question to answer but hard implications to consider for one so small.
I responded, "Well, Gunner, in Papua New Guinea we do not have a water supply like here in the States.  All our water there is rain water collected and so we need to be very careful with it."
"Why is that different here?" he then inquired.
No easy answers on that one!  How would you respond?  How do you try to grapple with disparity and explain it to a five year old in a way that makes sense?  It has not been easy!  It has caused me to wrestle with questions afresh and has left me resolved in my convictions in what part God has called US to...and when I say US?  I mean you too!  All of those who pray, give, encourage, and uphold our family as we seek to serve God abroad have a critical role in our composition!  We could NOT 'play our part' unless others were playing their parts too!  The music of our lives includes ALL the instruments!  And together?  We create a symphony!!!
Different rhythms, different instruments, different voices, different rests...they ALL contribute to the depth and fullness heard from the whole.  No ONE instrument could accomplish so much in and of themselves.  However, that's the richness of music.  God has uniquely and deliberately given EACH of us differences on purpose to display the quality and range of His ability as a Creator, a Musician, a Conductor, well, you get the idea....it is truly unfathomable!
So?  For today the music of our lives is a similar tempo with an aura of a lead in....this is just the beginning!  The notes and elements of our days are building to create and prepare us for the next song.  The music we compose and play in is rich, full, and utterly beautiful....would you like to join us?
