Security....Forever?
Security....a comfort that we like to enjoy, right? Well, living in Santiago it is NOT something we take for granted. Theft is common and without gates to keep us safe from break ins from outside, we would be susceptible to robbery often.
One of Brian's crucial undertakings this summer has been to make the school more secure. The whole front fence was extended almost 4 feet higher. So Brian got to practice welding a lot because there were over 300 upright posts that were welded in. I wanted to let you see the transformation of a gate he's been working on as of the last month. To God be the glory, it is ready for use before school starts next week!
The start of the fence raising project....
Second phase of the front gate was to make it a testimony....here is the layout of the steel before it was welded together....
Here is Brian hard at work welding......
If you look closely, you can catch a glimpse of the end design from this view....
It's up and welded in place! He also change it for two swing gates to one big sliding gate
Now, it's time to secure the center...
Can you see it coming together?
It is up and intact!
Now for the finishing touches and a trial run to make sure folks can get in....
Success!
While the gate IS a huge success, I chose this last picture from the outside of the school looking in on purpose. The cross is SO vital to ALL that we do here in Chile because it represents our motivation.....Christ has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him through His sacrifice on the cross, and we want to spread the news in Chile and throughout the world that His invitation is for ALL people.....EVERYWHERE!!! It's an "open" invitation....like this gate.....HOWEVER, it requires a decision on the part of those outside to walk through. First, you must realize your need for Christ and the reality of your sin. Secondly, you need to accept His finished work at the cross and accept His forgiveness by asking Him for it. This is a life changing event.....after the point of realizing you NEED Christ and asking His forgiveness, what next you may ask?
Through accepting Christ we are a new creation and as a result it is necessary that we start living for Him and not for ourselves. Practically--get involved in a local church where there is discipleship and fellowship and Bible based preaching, talk to God through prayer, read the Bible, seek to live for what's eternal and not temporal.
Giving your life to the Lord and living for Him provides a security that no gate, fence, or barrier EVER can...it provides security on the INSIDE....something NO ONE can ever take.
Brian, with the help of several others, has made our school more secure from the outside by God's grace and help, but it REALLY is what happens on the inside of the school as we share the Gospel and students accept Christ that will provide the security that is really needed.
Please join us in praying for ETERNAL SECURITY for our students this semester!!!
A couple other security projects are....
...the creation of the new walk-through door....
Sam, a co-laborer and big blessing to Brian, getting the forms ready for cement to be poured once the gate is up... |
Alvaro, a Seminary student, that has helped Brian in huge ways this summer with painting....among other things!
