"The BIG pour" in pictures
In our update letter that came out in January, we asked for prayer on a BIG project that Brian has undertaken this summer.....pouring sidewalks. We thought it'd be fun to tell the story of how it went with pictures and captions! It was a three day process, so bear with us as there are many pics....we tried to only share the highlights!
DAY ONE
The tools are ready...
...The wheelbarrows are in place...
...The forms are set for job #1--a garbage area....
...job #2--sidewalk widening behind the school...
...job #3--sidewalk widening in front of the school...
...The crew is partially present at 8:00 sharp! The truck is scheduled to come at 8:30 am....
....the crew walks to meet the truck....
...at 11:30 am!!! (It arrived on "Chilean" time...:0)
...the work begins! It is a race against time and hardening cement so these guys need to work quickly!...
...the crew splits up....some here...
...some there...
...Day One jobs are completed and ready to set up and cure!...
...looks good for a long, hard morning!!!
DAY TWO
The crew is still waiting for the truck at 9:00 am.....it was scheduled to come at 8:30 am....
...it arrives after 10:30 am! If you look closely to the right, you'll see the audience that the team had watching their every move....what fun!...
...the crew begins the BIG pour of a sidewalk going from the Elementary School building to the High School building and Seminary across the property....
...they are all hard at work!...
...it took EVERYONE to get this job done, and there was NO job that was less important....it was a TEAM effort ALL the way!....
...here is a pic of the leveling and smoothing process while others continued to pour....about half of the sidewalk distance was covered on the second day!
DAY THREE
Ya know, they say that the third time is a charm, but the crew didn't count on that after two days of late shows......here comes the truck at 8:50 am!...
...It was neat to see a familiar name/brand from near our hometown out of Dodge Center, Minnesota!...
...a glimpse of the second half of the length of the sidewalk...
...The pillars for a new seating area were also poured.....here is a look at their progress the next day...
....looks like our team did a mighty fine job!...
...and our final pic...one of the TOTAL length of the sidewalk stretched from school to school....sorry about the gate in the way!
FINAL NOTE:
While there were several things that didn't go "as planned," and it was a learning experience by EVERYONE involved....the overarching thing that we walked away with was the faithfulness of our God...He came through in BIG ways!!!! No one was hurt or injured and the job was done to the BEST of everyone's ability! We give God the glory for that!!!! We are SO THANKFUL for the hands that showed up to help in the work, and we realize that it could've never been accomplished alone! Thanks to those partners in the ministry that not only came to help but gave it their all! We are grateful and privileged to serve with you!!!
