"This Old House" revisited

Right now the Hoveys are in the middle of big changes....we are in the process of putting on an addition to Brian's parents home.  Brian and Gene (Brian's dad) have been busy with planning and executing those plans to keep the work moving forward.  They are in the thick of things daily and are not afraid to get their hands dirty!  Gunner would be out there helping too, but then he'd get his hands dirty, and right now everything goes to his mouth!  While I am sure there will be days when Gunner will eat dirt in the future, I'm not ready for the repercussions of that yet!
Here is some of the work done so far....
This is a picture of the original house from the driveway looking over.
This is a picture of the original house from the front yard. (It's very similar shot to the one above)

Here is a picture of the tree in the front yard cut down and the front porch torn off.

Here is a closer shot of the guys working on putting up the house wrap after the front porch came off.

Brian's brother, Pete, and his family were also in on the action!

Making changes to the house has reminded me of a song that my Grandma Hurst used to sing with me and my sister.  It was called, "This Old House."  The lyrics are as follows....
This old house once knew my children
This old house once knew my wife
This old house was home and shelter as we fought the storms of life
This old house once rang with laughter
This old house heard many shouts
Now she trembles in the darkness when the lightnin' walks about
Chorus:
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
I'm getting ready to meet the saints
The song is talking about the house in a figurative sense....WE are the house.  While the changes and additions are being made to our tangible house, it reminds me that there are continuous changes in EACH of us too...coming back from a different culture has changed both me and Brian.  We have the addition of different experiences abroad.  God built on additions to our character and attitudes during our time Chile, and we are so grateful for that!
As we are talking about changes, I thought I'd put up some current pics of Gunner so our readers can see how much he has grown and is changing too!
Aw......Gunner lounging about and enjoying it!

Here is another one of Gunner.....he is getting ready to head outside into the brisk wind, so he had to wear a hat!
Gunner after bath time enjoying his bathrobe from Chile!
